Upgrading from a previous version of TValue

TValue version 7 will automatically read and convert files from TValue version 6. You can convert a file from TValue version 6  simply by opening it with TValue version 7. If you subsequently save the file in version 7, you can save it in either a version 7 (.tv7) or version 6 (.tv6)  format. If you save the file as a version 7 file, the original TValue version 6 with a .tv6 extension in the file name is undisturbed. If you save the file as a version 7 file but have added any non-version 7 features while in TValue 7, you will be warned of the features that will not be converted.

Note: TValue version 7 can also read and convert files from TValue version 5 and TValue version 4, but the file can only be saved in a a version 7 format leaving the original TValue version 5 file (with a .tv5 extension in the file name) or TValue version 4 file (with a .tv4 extension in the file name) undisturbed.

When you install TValue on your computer or server, we recommend installing it in a different directory from where any earlier version of TValue is installed. This allows you to still have access to the older version should you require it during your transition to version 7.
